MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER

United Way of Rhode Island seeks a results-oriented, well-organized individual with documented successful fundraising experience to join its Major Gifts team.  In partnership with the Major Gifts team, this non-managerial position will be responsible for developing strategies to re-engage lapsed donors and conduct prospect research using web-based, electronic and other information resources. A key component of this position is the cultivation, solicitation, closure and continual stewardship of prospective, lapsed and current major donors.

The individual must be able to articulate United Way’s mission and accomplishments and be adept at relationship building to engage donors and also able to close on gifts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable soliciting individuals in face-to-face meetings as well as through written solicitation proposals.  Bachelor’s degree, three to five years experience in major gifts solicitation preferred.
