Grant Recipients

Financial Stability Grants align with United Way of Rhode Island’s longer-term strategic work to strengthen Rhode Island’s financial stability by identifying and attacking the underlying causes of fiscal hardship facing individuals and families today. The grants assist low- and moderate-income Rhode Islanders to achieve better financial stability and independence. To develop the initiative, UWRI consulted with United Way of America and the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Both organizations have done extensive research and developed models in the arena of achieving financial security.

The programs receiving the grants offer individuals and families the tools to understand their financial options; to make smart financial decisions; and to assist individuals and families plan and implement steps to greater financial security.

Community Impact Fund

Community Impact Fund grants complement United Way of Rhode Island's longer term strategic work to reduce homelessness and expand the stock of affordable housing; improve the quality and availability of early care and out-of-school time programming and increase the earning capacity of lower income workers. All grant recipients meet rigorous community accountability standards to help ensure that our donor's investments are used wisely. Programs selected by community volunteers for Community Impact Fund grants represent UWRI's long-term commitment to giving people a hand up, not a hand out.
