The annual “Warm Thy Neighbor” campaign from the Rhode Island Good Neighbor Energy Fund (GNEF) helps Rhode Islanders pay their energy bills. The fund supports people in a temporary crisis, who have not qualified for federal and state assistance programs. United Way of Rhode Island is the administrator of the fund.

Sponsoring energy companies include Dominion Resources, National Grid, Pascoag Utility District, Petro Home Services, RISEC LP, and TransCanada’s Ocean State Power.

The Good Neighbor Energy Fund relies on the generosity of individuals, families, local corporations, and community organizations for support. Yellow donation envelopes are enclosed with energy bills from December through March to make it easy for anyone to make a donation. Donations are also accepted online, by check, or by texting the word WARM to 91999.

Donors can be assured that their gifts will support local families and individuals in need, as all of the fundraising costs at United Way of Rhode Island are paid by a trust.
