In Fall 2015, the Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) embarked on a new initiative called “Young Minds in Motion,” a fun, exciting hands-on project for youth ages eight to twelve.
YoungMinds in Motion is a partnership with local community libraries and the 4-H Cooperative Extension Program at the University of Rhode Island, which provided STEM-based kits for WLC volunteers to conduct sessions. The programs run on either a Wednesday or Friday afternoon from 4-6 PM or on a Saturday morning from 10 AM-Noon. Each site has an activity leader, and volunteers assist during the session. Check out pictures of our most recent events here.
In 2016, Young Minds in Motion is expanding to even more communities. That’s where you come in! We’re looking for volunteers who are interested in helping during these upcoming sessions. Consider being a site coordinator or volunteer assistant and experience the fun of watching a child discover STEM learning!
It’s a great opportunity to connect with WLC members, Rhode Island youth, and local communities. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Natalia Lima, Manager of Women’s Leadership Council at firstname.lastname@example.org or 401-444-0631.
