The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Site/Earned Income Tax Initiative ensures that working Rhode Islanders who earn less than $55,000 annually have access to free tax services.

Volunteer Tax PreparerLady explaining VITA

You can lend your time and professional skills during tax season and help Rhode Island’s low-income working families get the tax credits and refunds they’ve earned. Training classes are required for volunteers and begin each fall.

VITA Site Greeter

You can fill an important role in our VITA program by welcoming clients to sites across the state. No experience is necessary—just a willingness to help. Volunteers must be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required.
