(Tocqueville Society members Tom and Cathy Lawson.)
We’re excited to announce that Tom and Cathy Lawson, Tocqueville Society members, are the focus of May’s Tocqueville Spotlight. Tom is Chairman and CEO at FM Global.
We asked Tom and Cathy three questions. Here’s what they said:
What’s most rewarding about being a Tocqueville Society member?
Being a Tocqueville Society member allows you to make a positive impact in your community. It’s very rewarding to be part of a group that makes that kind of impact possible.
Why do you find partnering with United Way of Rhode Island important?
Partnering with United Way enables us to focus on, and impact, the community around us. United Way connects Rhode Islanders with critical skills like job training, educational opportunities, child care, housing, health and human services — all things that not just improve someone’s life, but can change it.
What advice do you have for those considering becoming a leadership donor?
Becoming a leadership donor gives you the ability to change people’s lives for the better. There are many opportunities to participate in the good work United Way does around the state — you can donate not only your financial resources, but also your time.
United Way of Rhode Island’s Tocqueville Society is a group of generous Rhode Islanders whose annual donations reach the $10,000 leadership level.
