On Thursday, April 5, United Way of Rhode Island hosted an event recognizing the partnerships between adult education programs and local employers. These programs nominated 16 employers — the following four were presented with a Star Award for being outstanding in their category:

Champion of Employee Learning:
Murdock Webbing Co., Inc., and Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative at Providence Public Library
Best All Around Employer Partner:
Refocus, Inc. and Genesis Center
