Give a child the gift of reading.
The annual Children’s Book Drive is a collaborative effort between United Way of Rhode Island, Women United, and Books Are Wings that engages local businesses, community organizations, individuals, and families to help foster a love of reading in children. In addition, it also encourages local children to build their own home libraries.
Since 2012, United Way of Rhode Island’s Children’s Book Drive has resulted in the collection of more than 186,000 books—books that are now being enjoyed by the children who needed them most.
Three ways to get involved:
- Host a collection drive in your community, church, or school.
- Donate books (encourage your family and friends to as well).
- Participate in our Day of Action by sorting, labeling, and packaging the books.
